AM Antenna Demo: How Our EAS Anti-Theft System Works

At EASystemsIndia, we believe customers should clearly understand how an EAS system works before installing it. That’s why we created a simple demo video showing the working of our AM (Acousto-Magnetic) antenna in a real setup.

In this blog, we explain the same video step by step, in easy language.

What Is an AM Antenna?

An AM antenna is a type of EAS anti-theft system commonly used in retail stores. It works using two antennas:

  • One acts as a transmitter

  • The other acts as a receiver

Together, they detect AM soft tags and hard tags when someone tries to exit the store without billing.

How the AM Antenna Is Connected

In the demo video, we first show how to connect the antenna properly.

  1. Power Connection
The antenna has a dedicated power port. Once the power wire is connected to the power board, the antenna turns on. You can clearly see the indicator lights showing that power is active.

  2. Interconnecting Cable
After power, an interconnecting cable is used to connect the transmitter antenna to the receiver antenna.
Once this cable is connected, the system becomes active and ready for detection.

This setup is simple and handled by our trained engineers during installation.

Soft Tag Detection and Distance Explained

In the video, we demonstrate detection using an AM soft tag.

  • The distance between the transmitter and receiver is kept at 4 feet

  • At this distance, the soft tag is detected instantly

  • When the distance is increased beyond 4 feet, detection becomes weak or may not work

That’s why we always recommend customers to maintain around 4 feet distance when using soft tags. This ensures reliable and consistent performance.

Hard Tag Detection and Distance Flexibility

Next, the video shows detection using an AM hard tag, which is commonly used on garments.

  • Hard tags can work even at 5 feet distance

  • Detection remains strong and stable

  • However, if both soft tags and hard tags are used in the store, we still recommend keeping the antenna distance around 4 to 4.2 feet

This ensures that both tag types work perfectly.

Recommended Installation Distance (Important)

Based on real testing shown in the video:
  • Soft tags: Best at ~4 feet

  • Hard tags: Can work up to 5 feet

  • Mixed usage (soft + hard): 4 to 4.2 feet is ideal

Correct spacing is very important for best results.

Why We Share Real Demo Videos

At EASystemsIndia, we don’t just sell systems — we educate store owners.

Our demo videos help customers:

  • Understand how the system actually works

  • See real detection results

  • Make the right decision before installation

Transparency builds trust, and that’s how we work.

Final Words

This AM antenna demo shows that proper installation and correct distance are the keys to strong EAS performance. When installed correctly, AM systems provide excellent protection for retail stores.
